Welcome back to Let's Get Weird. I asked for listener stories and boy did y'all deliver. So get cozy. Keep an open mind and let's get weird with some stories that might give you the chills in the best way. Okay. It's spooky season. It's finally October. It is my favorite time of year. The leaves are about to start changing. I'm actually in Texas, so that's not true because there's not trees here. We're gonna pretend that I'm still in Arizona and that the weather is crisp and all of the leaves are yellow and gold and orange and all of the pretty colors, and that it's cold at night. We will pretend we have our first listener story,, and I'm so excited to share this with you. The subject bond is okay. My toddler is creepy. Hi, I'm Haley and I have a very interesting story about my now 17-year-old as a toddler. Landon must have been around two to three years old at the time. I am unsure where it came from or where he might have possibly heard it, but he was constantly saying, I don't want to be that guy. And when I say constantly, I mean it under his breath loudly while laughing, while crying in his sleep all of the time. It went on for months. Can you imagine driving down the road with your toddler in the backseat in his car seat? Just whispering. I don't wanna be that guy. It was so creepy. I don't know what finally made him snap out of it, but I was so glad when that stage of our lives was over. Hailey, let me just tell you, kids are weird if you don't have kids yet, some of these stories might make you rethink that because kids are creepy. I know that my little boy, he's 10 now, but when he was probably three to four years old, this went on for at least a year. He just randomly out of the blue, had this just disturbing fear of the water. He would take a bath, he would tell me how he was going to drown one day, and I thought, okay, maybe he has, you know, seen something. But the fear was so real. He didn't wanna swim anymore. He didn't wanna go fish anymore. All the things that he had previously liked to do, and he would tell me every day about how he was going to drown. One day he even told me that his da, his great-grandpa, was going to drown, trying to save him from drowning in the pond at their house. So naturally, I did not let him play around the pond anymore. He could swim mind you as well as a three or 4-year-old could swim. But his fear was so real that it, it had me scared, you know, that he was going to drown. And one day we were driving over this little bridge coming out of our old neighborhood, and it goes across the highway to the bayou, and you just cut a left on the highway. Well, I went over the little bridge, went across the highway, and went to turn left right by the bayou, and all the sudden he just starts screaming at the top of his lungs. I thought that we were about to be hit by a car, and once I realized there was no car around us, I'm like, Reid, what is wrong? Like, baby, are you okay? And he's just screaming. He's crying, he's hyperventilating. I had to pull over on the side of the road because then I'm like, okay, maybe he's having an allergic reaction to something. I, I just didn't know. I was getting ready to call 9 1 1 because my child could not breathe. He finally calms down enough to tell me that he thought that we were driving over the bridge into the bayou. Just a full blown panic. So I get it. I get it. And I don't know if you've ever seen this show, Hailey, but there is a show and it's an old show. It might still be on discovery. It's called The Ghost Inside My Child, and it's about kids remembering their past life. And there was this episode about this little boy who, and I don't remember how old he was. Gosh, this, I'll have to go watch it.'cause I literally, I saw that it was still on there the other day, but this little boy was watching a documentary, I guess maybe with his parents about the Titanic, and he gets really upset, like he's crying and he starts telling them things about the Titanic that not only most adults don't know, but that a child definitely should know about how there was three of those, you know, big round towers. On the ship, but only two had a purpose. One was for decoration because it looked weird with there just being two. You need to go watch that show. It is. It is seriously weird, and all of the episodes are about kids remembering their past life. So please go watch it. Email me back. I wanna know what you think. Our next email subject line is haunted. My friend Cheryl passed away from a drug overdose about eight years ago. Oh, I'm so sorry. When her husband moved out of her home, he gave me their table and a few other things. Every so often I would get a strong smell of cigarettes, smoking our home. None of us are smokers. McKayla was convinced that Cheryl was haunting us one night. It got so bad, I said, knock it off, Cheryl, and we haven't smelled it since. Susan, look, if you're gonna haunt me, please make sure it smells good. Like I want food like Olive Garden or hibachi. I would deal with perfume if I had to, or cologne, maybe even some flowers. But. Let's just make sure it smells delish. This next story has the subject line, scary stories, trigger warning, brief discussion on self-harm. I swear something follows me because I've had things happen at every house I've ever lived in. It started when I was about two years old. I was a talker and was talking full sentences at that point. My mom overheard me talking to someone, when she would ask who it was, I responded with Alex. She's my friend. I remember seeing a woman who was wearing a red dress. I talked to Alex all of the time and had conversations with her in that same house. Things would disappear for months and would reappear again in plain sight. You would hear footsteps on the stairs when everyone was downstairs. When we were moving out, my grandpa was helping fix the house up had a super heavy metal flashlight on a dresser. The dresser was slightly warped on the top, so the flashlight slid to the back of the dresser. We were all standing around talking, and the flashlight flew off the dresser, so it would've had to somehow go uphill on its own for that to happen. The next house I moved into had the same things happen. My stuff would go missing and reappear in really weird places, and it seemed to only occur when I harmed myself. I was self-harming at that time. Oh, I'm sorry. I hate that. That breaks my heart for you. I borrowed a book from a friend for school and had the book in my backpack. One day it went missing and I couldn't find it at all. I had to buy my friend a new book and replace the missing one. And then when we were moving yet again, the book was found under a bunch of stuff in my mom's closet in the same house. I woke up at 2:00 AM to use the bathroom and saw a man standing at the table. No men lived in the house. I move again and I wasn't at this house long, only a couple of months, but the second we started moving all of our stuff in the lights flickered, I moved once more. And here is where things really got weird. Once I heard a female scream from the basement, the doors would slam when no windows were open. Things would go missing and reappear in weird places. I saw an apparition in shadow form. Walk up the basement stairs. I slept in the basement. Fun, right? No, not fun, girl. I would not, you couldn't pay me. Actually,. A nightlight would constantly get plugged back in after unplugging it. Then to stop it from getting plugged in all the time I plugged things into the outlets, the nightlight appeared on the floor under the outlet. You're a ghost to one of the nightlight. Okay? Like give the ghost what they want, please for the sake of the people. One night I was sleeping and woke up with my TV still on, and heard the sound of static with a demonic sounding voice coming from the tv. I was watching a Disney movie when I fell asleep. Okay. One night I heard the sound of a pool cord light trying to turn on and the only light we had like that didn't have a bulb in it. Mm, that's creepy. One night someone stayed over at the house and slept in the basement and they said they felt so uncomfortable the entire time, like something bad was there and they swore they heard voices I move once more this time on my own into a condo. I don't hurt myself anymore. I'm glad to hear that, but things go missing all the time. I've had things fly off the fridge at other people in the house. I had a dream catcher turn itself sideways rather than laying flat on the wall. Yo girl. When your ghost is throwing things at people, that probably means they shouldn't be there. I'm just gonna be honest with you. And two, listening to your story, it makes me wonder if you have some type of mediumship ability. I really do. I would not be surprised. Maybe you should look into that. the subject line of this one is true story. About 12 years ago, I was a bartender and an American Legion Post. I was there for at least three years, and in that time I would work Friday nights in the back bar. It was a really big post large back bar, and I got to know a lot of the people. There was this guy and we were talking, let's just call him Stan.. We got on the subject of aliens because I've always been interested in it because of my past. What happened to me, I never told anybody, but I paint pictures of UFOs and I have an obsession with it. So we were talking about it and one day he looks at me and he goes, look around. There's more than a few in this room right now, meaning aliens at the time. Just like anybody else, I was not convinced and didn't think much of it. He was totally serious. I don't jump on every bandwagon. I don't believe everything that I hear. This guy was a very good looking man. He was older, I would say probably 80, and there was some lady that was really interested in him and making it very well known. And one day he just disappeared. Never came back in. I think he was trying to get away from that lady, but right after he didn't show up, there was this other guy who would come in, a weird looking guy with this crazy joker like smile. Never heard him talk, heard him laugh, but he was hanging out with the same people that Stan would hang out with. Didn't think much of it except for he was always staring at me. It was kind of weird. So one day I decided to switch posts because I had moved. So I started working at a different post, probably 30 miles away. My very first day. Who walks in the door? It was Stan, he said, this is actually my home post. I was really happy and everybody knew and respected him. Stan, never sat out in the big room. He was always in the back. This was a very large post with two large rooms divided by a wall. That's when Stan and I became pretty close. He would come in and for hours, he'd just observe from the back room. I never saw him eat. He would always just get a Diet Coke. He didn't drink any alcohol. as soon as we became pretty good friends, he opened up about his life. He was interested in my daughter and how she was learning in school, et cetera. He was really interested in my UFO pictures, and he started telling me about his past and the things he had accomplished. It was fascinating. He told me so many things. It seemed like five men's lifetimes, a top motocross dirt bike rider, a model, an actor in commercials, and he competed in worldwide competitions. I don't wanna say what it was, but he was crowned the winner in a worldwide competition for a sport. One day he came in carrying three big bags. He wanted me to take it home so I could look at all of the things he had done. It was his whole life. Photos, yearbooks. All of his awards, a bunch of magazine articles about him. He was in commercials and hung out with actors. He modeled for different brands with big time models. He was in so many magazines. And he was still a very good looking man. Well, he was a hotty, huh? I wanna, I, I need to see a pic. Can you send a pic? I mean, very good looking. Yeah, girl, send a pic. He was one of the very first dirt bike racers ever and was a champion, motocross racer. Plus he was a highly decorated war hero. He was top of his class, on top of everything he did, it seemed. He never tried to pick me up. He was never forward that way. So I had no reason to think anything besides, he was just wanting to share his life with someone who was really interested. He was family to me. He asked me for some of my UFO pictures, which I brought him and some that I painted and gave it to him. Still at that time, there was no reason to think anything strange about the guy, except I felt he was reading my mind. Over the next year, we became pretty close. Then one day I came into the bar and opened. There was a few higher ranking officers already there having a meeting. I guess usually it was just me. I saw Stan over by the pop form machine. It seemed I startled him. No one was around him, just Stan. I saw him. I smiled, looked down for one second and looked back up and in front of my eyes he changed into that other guy that I was talking about with the goofy smile and just smiled at me. I was stunned and I didn't really know what to do, but it was like he was showing me something. He just smiled at me, didn't say anything, and walked out the door. I was literally floored. I was scared. I was like, what the heck is going on? I never said anything to him about it or anyone. I feel like he was showing me that there are aliens and that there are things we can't explain. It was just so strange to see him turn into that man because I'd seen him a bunch of times before, when I tell you his face looked like he had a mask on, a real tight mask with his lips bulging out of it, it looked like the joker smile. I'm not joking when I say it was the weirdest, creepiest looking smile I've ever seen. Had the same eyes. Totally weird looking smile. So I really don't know how to explain it, but I know that it happened. I never saw the two together, which made sense. I felt like he could reach into my soul and he could tell that I was a good person and that I was really interested in him, that I cared for him. So maybe that's why he told me about his life, and he, I guess, trusted me that I would never say anything to anybody. And Lord knows I wouldn't because who knows? I didn't know if this guy was something that was going to hurt me. If I was to say anything to anybody, I still just don't know to this day. At any rate, a few months later when he came in, he said he had something for me and gave me this rock. The bartending was a second job. My career was working for a mining company and I was kind of a geologist in a way. I knew a lot about minerals and rock compositions and stuff like that, and to this day, I cannot tell you what this rock is. It looks like glass opal looking. O scent O cent. I don't even know. We're just gonna pretend like I do though. Beautiful Round rock. And he told me to take care of it. He said he found it in his front yard. I still have it to this day. It scratches very easily. I don't know what it is. If you can imagine those round little glass things that maybe you would see in a fish tank. Oh, like the little clear colored pebbles. I see what you're saying. It looks kind of like that, but extremely cold,, and it's beautiful. Anyway, I never saw him again before I quit that job. did have my phone number and he called me a couple of times and wanted me to meet him somewhere. wanted to talk and tell me something. I was too scared to go because in my mind I'm thinking, what if he's going to kill me and take over my body or what have you? Same. I would've, I literally would've been worried about the same thing because for somebody to be able to be that accomplished at things, it seems like he's been around this world for a very long time. I really don't know. All I know is the guy changed right in front of my face he showed it to me for a reason. And pretty much that's my story. PS I wasn't on drugs. I believe you. I wasn't imagining it. It was real. I almost feel kind of bad for telling somebody about it because it was pretty personal. I wish I would've gone out and met him to see what he had to tell me. Maybe he was going to tell me a big secret. I have no idea. I do know that he was very close and well respected with the American Legion. The fact that years before he had said to look around, there's more than one in this room at the time, maybe he was meaning shapeshifters or aliens. Maybe they're one of the same. I don't know, but it all kind of comes back together with what happened when I was a kid. Who knows? I don't know if it's all connected, if there's any kind of correlation, but it would sure be nice to find out for sure. Because you know, it's hard going through life with all of these unanswered questions. I guess in the end, we'll all know the truth. Right. I will say one coincidence with all of this is that Stan was very interested in my daughter and would say things about her. No one could know I had a baby at 38. She's my miracle baby. I was told I was never going to have kids. I never tried. It was a wonderful surprise, of course, and the best thing that's ever happened to me. But throughout my young adult life, I was sure I was having miscarriages or something. Something was going on. And looking back, it was usually right around the time that the bright blue light would come in, then shortly after, I would be bleeding uncontrollably. I never went to the doctor. I never found out for sure because it kind of blocks out of your mind. Looking back, I wonder if they were taking my kids my whole life. Any rate, who knows? Maybe that's part of the story. But now I have a wonderful 17-year-old daughter and life is good. Thanks. So to preface this, she sent me another story. And I am going to read that now. I guess I should have read it first, but we're going backwards today, guys. No judgment here. This is a judgment free zone, so if I don't judge you, you can't judge me. There is another story that happened to me in my family that I've told a few people, like a ologist. Her name was Barbara Lamb. She actually hypnotized me before to regress on the situation, and I sent her pictures with which she verified at different colleges and they were deemed to be authentic. 1978, I lived in Mesa, Arizona. My whole family watched the UFO, just like the Phoenix lights go right over our home in Mesa. I just burped, I'm sorry. It was the biggest thing I've ever seen about two football fields long. What was really strange is it had windows on it and you could see beings looking down on us like they were observing us. My stepfather at the time worked for Garrett Air Research. Which he worked on top secret airplanes, and he said he had never seen anything like it. The next day I went to school, I was in the fourth grade and I told my teacher about it. He got so excited. He made me go to the principal and tell her and draw a picture of what I saw. I'm not sure, but I believe at the time he had seen it too and was trying to prove it by having me tell my story. At any rate, after that. Exactly 10 years later, in the same exact spot. I was 16 years old, coming home from my best friends. She lived about two blocks away at the time. And we used to watch the Waltons. I mean, it was like a big thing. Anyways, The Waltons was over at nine o'clock. I left my friend Robin's house at eight 50. I pulled up into my driveway and my car, what I thought at the time, got hit by lightning. It was the lightest bluest. Warmest hum. That lasted for just a few seconds, but I was blinded by it, consumed by it. I thought my car got hit by lightning. That was a little worrying to me because it was a very clear night. I forgot what had just happened. And then I opened my door and my parents were standing there extremely pissed off at me because I was an hour late and I was confused. There was no way that could be because I left the house 10 minutes before. I called my girlfriend asking her why she let me come home that late, she's like,, you left an hour ago. I got grounded. So it was like a really big deal and I forgot about what happened with the lightning. Then the same thing happened every 10 years until I was about 35 years old. Weird that it happened every 10 years, in my opinion. Uh, no. I concur. I, I agree with that. I'm not saying I was abducted or have been a test subject because I don't know, I don't remember anything. Barbara Lamb was unable to hypnotize me, but she was very interested in my story. I'm interested to see if there was anybody else in the Mesa or Phoenix area at that time and experience the same thing. It kind of screwed up my life, to be honest with you in a way. But anyways, I just thought I'd give you a little dab of another story that's happened to me. But there was six people in my family at the time who all saw this. And it's weird because there was never anything on the news about it. One of my brother's friends was there at the time too, and to this day, if you talk to him about it, he still gets freaked out. I don't know why. I think it affected him badly. Maybe they did some things to him that he can't come to terms with. I'm not sure. And my friend Robin still remembers it as well. I was so mad at her because I was grounded for a month for my boyfriend and at 16, that's a big deal. You, oh, that's a big deal. For sure. I remember those days. I remember'em all too. Well, actually, that's your whole life what do y'all think? What do y'all think about that? I'm a firm believer in. Weird things happening to people over and over again. Like if you experience something, you're more likely to experience that same thing again, right? Anybody else? Do I have anybody else out there who's listening, who's had any weird UFO experiences? Send it to me, email it to me. Email me a voice memo. I would love to be able to play y'all's voice memos on here. That would be amazing. But girl, pretty sure you saw a shapeshifter. And the thing is, is you just don't know what's out there, guys. You don't know what's out there. And in my opinion, personally, I think. All of these people can't be making this stuff up. Right. How many Bigfoot reports do you hear about every year? And if you're not into this stuff like I am, maybe you don't know how many reports there are, but I'm gonna fact check that there are tons. My granddaddy swears he saw Bigfoot. Okay. My granddaddy was a farmer. He was never into this kind of stuff. And when he retired from farming, he was driving a school bus. It gave him something to do and it got him out of my nana's hair for a little while. So he was all about it, and so was she. But one day he was driving the school bus and it was in the afternoon, I'm from Louisiana, so they were driving past the woods and he said he pulled the bus over because there was a bear out there and he wanted the kids to see it. But the bear was on its back leg standing up, and he was like, Hey, y'all, look at this bear. And then it just started walking. Like walking into the woods, he said it was huge. He's never seen anything like it. My granddaddy may have been a teller of tall tales, but you knew when he was telling you something serious, you know? Okay. Like we know Granddaddy. I believe you. We don't know everything, guys. And if you think you do well, then you know more than me because I'll never admit to knowing everything that wraps up this episode of Let's Get Weird. And I love getting voice memos, so if you go to a quiet room, no moving cars, send me a little voice memo, tell us your story so we can play it here on the podcast. I appreciate all of you, and if you can leave me a rating in review, keep it weird.
